This week, our hearts broke a little.
Everlane, a brand that once stood for radical transparency, is being acquired by Shein. When we first heard the news, it felt like the end of an era.
Everlane was one of the brands that inspired us when we were starting Ebenbild. Back then, there was a sense of optimism. We believed that businesses could help shape a better world. That fashion could be more thoughtful, more transparent and more respectful of both people and the planet.
Seeing one of the pioneers of that movement take this path felt discouraging. But after sitting with it for a while, we realized something important.
This is not the end of fair fashion.
If anything, it is a reminder of why brands like ours exist in the first place. We started Ebenbild because we wanted to create clothes differently. We wanted to make pieces that feel beautiful to wear, that are made with care and that stay with you for years.
That is why we design every piece ourselves. Why we spend months testing and refining each style until it feels just right. And why we choose to grow at a pace that allows us to stay true to what matters to us.
We have always believed that kindness belongs in every part of the process. In the way materials are chosen. In the way garments are made. In the way a piece feels against your skin.
Especially when it comes to underwear. It is the first thing you put on in the morning and the one thing that stays with you all day. When it fits perfectly , feels soft and supports you in the right places, it can change how you move through the day.
Some of the most meaningful moments for us happen in our store.
Someone comes in feeling unsure, sometimes almost apologetic about their body. Then they try something on, look in the mirror and suddenly their whole expression changes. Their eyes light up. Their shoulders relax. They stand a little taller.
That moment, when someone feels comfortable and confident in their own skin, is the reason we do what we do.
So today, we simply want to say thank you: Thank you for supporting a small independent label. Thank you for choosing quality over quantity. Thank you for believing that comfort, kindness and responsibility still matter.
Kindness is still our dream. And we are not done yet.
